5 Tips for Maintaining Your LVT Flooring

5 Tips for Maintaining Your LVT Flooring

LVT flooring is here to stay as a true rival to Laminate flooring. But we want to make sure it is also here to stay in regards to your home. That's why we are excited to share some helpful tips on how to keep your LVT flooring looking its best. LVT flooring is an incredibly popular choice in the UK due to its durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic appeal. Here are five tips to help you maintain your LVT flooring for years to come.

1. Sweep or Vacuum Regularly

Sweep or vacuum your LVT floor regularly to remove dirt and debris. This will prevent the build-up of grime, which can be harder to remove later. You can also use a microfiber mop to remove dust and loose dirt. Be sure to use a soft-bristled brush or a vacuum attachment with a soft brush to avoid scratching the surface of your LVT flooring.

2. Clean Up Spills Immediately

If you spill something on your LVT flooring, clean it up as soon as possible. Use a damp cloth or mop to wipe away the spill. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents, as these can damage the surface of your floor. Instead, use a mild cleaning solution, such as a mixture of warm water and a mild detergent.

3. Protect the Flooring from Scratches

LVT flooring is durable, but it can still be scratched by heavy furniture or sharp objects. To prevent scratches, use furniture pads on the bottom of chairs and tables. You can also place a doormat at the entrance to your home to prevent dirt and debris from being tracked in.

4. Use a Neutral pH Cleaner

When it’s time to clean your LVT flooring, be sure to use a neutral pH cleaner. This type of cleaner is gentle and won’t damage the flooring. You can also use warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the surface of your LVT flooring.

5. Avoid Excessive Water

While LVT flooring is waterproof, excessive water can damage the subfloor or cause the adhesive to loosen. When mopping your LVT flooring, wring out the mop thoroughly to avoid leaving excess water on the floor. You can also use a damp mop instead of a wet mop to reduce the amount of water used.

Maintaining your LVT flooring doesn't have to be a difficult task. By following these simple tips, you can keep your floor looking like new for years to come. Regular cleaning and preventative measures will help extend the life of your LVT flooring, and keep your home looking beautiful.
